Vadims Vasiļevskis (born January 5, 1982 in Riga ) is a former Latvian javelin thrower .

At his first international championship, the European Athletics Championships in Munich in 2002 , Vasiļevskis failed in the qualification.

At the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens he threw 84.43 m in qualification and rose to 84.95 m in the first round in the final. Only Andreas Thorkildsen (NOR) managed a better attempt with 86.50 m, so that Vasiļevskis won the silver medal in the end ahead of Sergei Makarow (RUS) with 84.84 m.

At the World Athletics Championships in Helsinki in 2005 he was eliminated again in the qualification, but the following year he succeeded in his first throw over the 90 m mark. He was therefore one of the favorites for the EM 2006 in Gothenburg. There, however, with Andreas Thorkildsen and the Finn Tero Pitkämäki, two other 90 m throwers had the nose in front, and old master Jan Železný snatched the bronze medal from the Latvian with his only valid attempt (85.92 m). Vasiļevskis was fourth with 83.21 m.

In 2007 he improved his personal record on July 22nd in Tallinn to 90.73 m and finished fourth at the World Championships in Osaka .

Vadims Vasiļevskis has a competition weight of 80 kg with a height of 1.89 m.
