Valérie Boyer (born June 11, 1962 in Bourges , Cher department ) is a French politician and member of the French National Assembly , where she represents the Bouches-du-Rhône department for the UMP party ( Union pour un mouvement populaire ) .

Life

She is the daughter of Algerian- born Gabriel Boyer and Tunisian- born Lucienne Borg. Valérie Boyer is divorced and has three children. After attending the Lycée Marcelin-Berthelot in Saint-Maur-des-Fossés , she received a diploma in public administration from the Institut d'études politiques d'Aix-en-Provence .

Political career

In 2001 she joined the team around Jean-Claude Gaudin , Mayor of Marseille , where she was elected to the city council of the 13th and 14th arrondissements of Marseille. In 2007 she was elected to the 8th arrondissement of Bouches-du-Rhone.

In 2008 she submitted a draft law that is supposed to punish the depiction of extremely thin models in fashion advertising (as a criminal offense "inciting anorexia ") with a fine of up to 30,000 euros.

After telling the 2011 draft law punishing denial of the Armenian Genocide , its website was attacked by Turkish hackers ; these left a message in English and Turkish attacking the French and Armenians. In addition, she received numerous death threats for the draft law, whereupon she filed a complaint against unknown persons.
