Valadares is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in northwestern Portugal .

Valadares is part of the Vila Nova de Gaia county in the Porto district . The community had an area of ​​5.1 km² and 10,676 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Valadares and Gulpilhares were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Gulpilhares e Valadares .

Valadares is on the Linha do Norte .
