Valdemaras Sarapinas

Valdemaras Sarapinas (born June 29, 1962 in Ariogala , Raseiniai Rajongemeinde ) is a Lithuanian civil servant and diplomat .

Life

In 1985 Valdemaras Sarapinas graduated from Vilnius University of Technology . From 1989 to 1992 he was the deputy director of the Education Department of the Vilnius City Council . From 1992 to 1993 he worked at the Lithuanian Stock Exchange and until 1994 as the Lithuanian representative of Adidas .

In 1994 Sarapinas returned to the civil service. Until 1996 he was Secretary in the Ministry of Defense of Lithuania - from 1996 to 1999 military attaché in the USA (from 1997 with additional responsibility for Canada ). From 2000 to 2002 he was Deputy Minister of Defense and from 2006 to 2009 Chancellor of the Government of Lithuania . This was followed by a position as consul general in New York City from 2010 to 2014 and as military advisor to President Dalia Grybauskaitė from 2014 to 2016. Since 23 August 2016, he has been the Lithuanian ambassador to Finland .
