Valentin Preuss from Springenberg

Valentin Preuss vom Springenberg (also: Pannonius ; born April 29, 1553 in Frankfurt (Oder) ; † November 28, 1601 in Königsberg (Prussia) ) was a German physician.

Life

Valentin Preuss vom Springenberg was the son of Christoph Preuss von Springenberg . He had enrolled at the University of Königsberg in 1583 . In 1584 he received his doctorate in medicine from the University of Valence and then worked as a doctor in Elbing . In 1588 he was given the first professorship in medicine and the professorship in physics in Königsberg.

Vom Springenberg participated in the organizational tasks of the Königsberg University. In the winter semesters 1588/89, 1590/91, 1592/93, 1594/95 and 1598/99 he was rector of the Alma Mater .

His first marriage in 1588 was Regina († March 14, 1599), daughter of the court relative Jakob Keuter and widow of Paul vom Stein . After the death of his first wife, he married Barbara Pohl († 1637), widow of Heinrich Gehlbeer, who after his death married the doctor in Königsberg's old town D. Erasmus Treschenberger.
