Valentin Schacht

Valentin Schacht (born February 14, 1540 in Stargard , † June 12, 1607 in Rostock ) was a German theologian and university professor.

Life

The son of Stargard Senator Matthaeus Schacht attended school in Magdeburg and studied in Rostock from 1560 . In October 1563 he became a master of the arts and has lectured ever since. In 1565 he fled from the plague to Greifswald , but at the end of the year he accepted the call as a deacon at St. Jakobi in Rostock . He married Margarethe Hoeppner (1542–1609). In 1570 he was appointed professor of theology. In 1573 Schacht became archdeacon and in 1595 pastor of St. Jakobi.

In the winter semesters 1570, 1582, 1588, 1594 and 1600 Valentin Schacht was elected rector of the university.

His daughter Ursula (1567–1631) married the Rostock theology professor David Lobech .
