Valeria Spälty (born June 24, 1983 in Glarus ) is a Swiss curler . She played for the Davos Curling Club.

Valeria Spälty began curling in 1992. She gained her first international experience with the juniors, but was only able to translate this into medals in the elite.

At the 2004 European Championships in Sofia , the 2005 European Championships in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin , Spälty won silver with the Ott team. Valeria Spälty is the youngest Olympic medalist in curling. Spälty became Swiss champion in 2002 (juniors), 2006, 2008, 2009.

At the 2008 World Championships in Vernon, Canada, she won the bronze medal together with her teammates Janine Greiner , Carmen Schäfer and Mirjam Ott , and in December 2008 the gold medal at the European Curling Championships in Örnsköldsvik , Sweden.

Spälty studied sports science and psychology at the University of Bern and prevention / health promotion at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences. Since then she has been working as a sports therapist in Lucerne and continues to live in Bern .

After winning the Olympic silver medal in 2006, a street in her community of Riedern was renamed in her honor. The Valeria-Spälty-Strasse is in the center of the village.
