Valerius Dencker

Valerius Dencker (* 1542 in Sulingen ; † April 9, 1589 ibid) was a Lutheran pastor and superintendent of the county of Hoya in Sulingen.

Life

The son of Sulingen councilor Johann Dencker attended school in Bremen and Lüneburg before he began to study philosophy at the University of Rostock in April 1560 . In Rostock he received his bachelor's and master's degree on April 26, 1565. Married to a daughter from the Liebenau vassal family Schortinghausen of the Counts of Hoya, he was elected pastor in 1570. When Sulingen became a superintendent in 1588, Valerius Dencker was appointed the first superintendent. However, he died a year later. His successor was Johannes Aumann.
