The Valle Germanasca is a side valley of the Val Chisone (Chisone Valley) in the Italian metropolitan city of Turin in the Piedmont region . It is traversed by the Torrente Germanasca, a right tributary of the Chisone , in a north-easterly direction.
The valley is located in the Cottian Alps , near the border with France . It flows into the Chisone Valley (Val Chisone) at Perosa Argentina .
The so-called Waldensian valleys Pellice , Chisone and Germanasca were retreat areas for the Waldensians from the Middle Ages to the 19th century . After expulsion in 1686 and armed return in 1689, the returnees holed up for months on a steep mountain ridge near Balsiglia (small museum).
