Valorem SA (from Latin , German  value ) is the name of a Colombian group of companies. It was created in 1997 to a large extent from the fortune of Julio Mario Santo Domingo and his family. Its shares are listed on the Bogotá Stock Exchange . The mutual fund actively manages a portfolio of holdings in companies in Colombia and abroad. The most important sectors are currently: media, industry, services. Following the death of wealthy businessman Julio Mario Santo Domingo in 2011, his son Alejandro Santo Domingo Davila took over as CEO of the group.

history

Valorem emerged from the Valores Bavaria concern , which in turn emerged from the Bavaria SA brewery and whose recent history was written by the richest large family in Colombia, Santo Domingo. It is a success story that the global economy rarely allows. With the expropriation of the Kopp family , which took place due to Colombia's declaration of war on the German Reich , Julio Mario Santo Domingo came into possession of 75% of the shares in the Kopp brewery in Bogotá . To date it is not known whether the descendants of the Kopp family were compensated.

Through acquisitions , restructuring and by sometimes substantial sales - Bavaria SA US dollar was now most profitable to 7.8 billion for SABMiller sold, which in turn was followed by Anheuser-Busch InBev acquired - the years developed over a business empire of the Valorem group, which today comprises the areas of media & entertainment, industry, trade, services, logistics, transport, agricultural industry, digital and real estate.
