Valser (often referred to as Valserwasser ) is a Swiss mineral water from the mineral springs in Vals . The St. Peters spring from which the water emerges was developed in 1960 on behalf of the German investor Kurt Vorlop and shortly afterwards sold to Donald Hess . The water was marketed by the Hess Group under the “Valser” brand . In 2002 the Hess Group sold Valser Mineralquellen AG from Coca-Cola HBC .

origin

The Vals water collects at a depth of 1000 meters and is mineralized in the water-bearing layers of the Piz Aul . It takes between two and two hundred years for the water to emerge at the foot of the mountain at the St. Petersquelle. It was on the road for 80 years on average.

Products

In addition to the classic mineral waters “Valser Sparkling” with little carbon dioxide and “Valser Still” without carbon dioxide, Valser also offers so-called wellness water (“Valser Viva”) and several flavored waters. The drinks are sold in 1.5-liter PET bottles or in 1-liter glass bottles in Germany and Switzerland. The PET bottle was designed in 2001 by the Ticino architect and designer Mario Botta .

Valser offers a free delivery service that delivers the drinks to your home and also takes back the empties.

Carbon dioxide from the air

Valser adds atmospheric carbon dioxide to its mineral water, which is obtained from the ambient air. A direct air capture system (DAC) from the Swiss ETH spin-off company Climeworks is used for this. Valser was the first climate-neutral mineral water in Switzerland to be certified.

Market position

According to the financial magazine Bilanz and Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux, the Valser brand ranked 42nd throughout Switzerland in 2005 with a brand value of CHF 43 million. This made Valser the strongest and most expensive brand in Graubünden, ahead of Ems-Chemie or Davos .
