Van Buren Bridge Company

The Van Buren Bridge Company (VBB) is a former bridge company in the USA . It was founded on January 30, 1913 as a subsidiary of the Bangor and Aroostook Railroad . Their only facility was the Van Buren Bridge, which spans the Saint John River and is part of the two-kilometer rail link from Van Buren in Maine to St. Leonards , Canada .

The standard gauge line was opened on May 1, 1915 and offered an additional connection between the Bangor & Aroostook and the network of the Canadian Pacific Railway . In St. Leonards there were also connections to the International Railway of New Brunswick and the National Transcontinental Railway . The VBB was an independent company until January 9, 2003 , when it was bought by the Montreal, Maine and Atlantic Railway , which had also acquired the former Bangor & Aroostook.
