The Vandanser Steinwand is a mountain range at the northern end of the Montafon in the municipality of Vandans .

The mountain range includes some mountains with a summit cross , such as the Zimba and the Roßkopf. Running roughly from west-southwest to east-northeast , it keeps part of the north winds against Vandans.

The border between the municipality of Vandans and Bürs and from the Kleiner Valkstiel between Vandans and Lorüns runs largely on the ridge of the Vandanser Steinwand . The municipality boundary between Lorüns and Bürs runs over the Bludenzer Mittagsspitze, which is about 800 m to the north from the main ridge.

The ridge has a length of about 4 km (as the crow flies) from the Zimba to the Steinwandeck.

geology

The Vandans stone wall is dominated by the main dolomite (between Lorüns and St. Anton in the Montafon ), with older units from Raibler strata , which also contain minable plaster guides.

hike

Most of the peaks of the Vandanser Steinwand can be reached on foot from the valley in around three to six hours. The individual peaks are sometimes relatively far apart. Good physical condition, surefootedness and a head for heights are required. Some of the paths are not signposted and should only be used in good weather. There is a risk of falling rocks.

From the Sarotlahütte located on the west side of the ridge 1611  m above sea level. A. All peaks, especially the Große Hüttenkopf (Große Valkastiel) and the Zimba, are easy to reach.
