Vardan Ovsepian

Vardan Ovsepian (born May 24, 1975 in Armenia ) is an Armenian-American jazz musician ( piano , keyboard , arrangement , composition ).

Vardan Ovsepian, who has Armenian roots, attended the Romanos Melikyan Music College from 1990 to 1992 , then studied at the State Conservatory in Yerevan, in 1994/95 at the Estonian Music Academy, then at the Helsinki Jazz Conservatory and between 1997 and 2000 at the Berklee College of Music . Ovsepian worked with the Peter Erskine New Trio , featured on the albums Joy Luck (2011) and In Praise of Shadows (2016). Under his own name he released the solo album Abandoned Wheel ( Fresh Sound New Talent ) in 2001 with his own compositions.

The productions Sketch Book (2002, with Mick Goodrick , Joshua Davis , Take Toriyama and the singer Monica Yngvesson ) and Akunc (2004, with Joshua Davis, Agnieszka Dziubak , Take Toriyama, Monica Yngvesson) were also created for Fresh Sound . In the field of jazz he was involved in eleven recording sessions between 2001 and 2015. His duo Fractal Limit with Tatiana Parra , with whom he presented the albums Lighthouse (2014) and Hand in Hand (2016), won the first Achava Jazz Award in 2017 . His other band projects include the Vardan Ovsepian Chamber Ensemble (VOCE). He also worked as a music teacher and author. Ovsepian lives in Los Angeles.
