Vasmalom was a Hungarian musical group specializing in modern folk music.

history

The group was founded in 1981 by the musician Gábor Reőthy. The number of members changed over time between five to seven musicians. Stylistically, the group's music was based on traditional folk music from Hungary and Eastern Europe, which was combined with contemporary influences and elements of improvisation. It follows on from the Táncház movement that emerged in Hungary in the early 1970s.
