Vassilis Lambrinoudakis

Vassilis Lambrinoudakis ( Greek Βασίλης Λαμπρινουδάκης ; * July 4, 1939 in Chios ) is a Greek classical archaeologist .

Lambrinoudakis studied Classical Archeology and History at the University of Athens . There he completed his diploma in 1962, was an assistant from 1964, received his doctorate in 1971 and was Professor of Classical Archeology from 1978 until his retirement in 2006.

Lambrinoudakis main research area is the art and architecture of Greece, especially the Greek religion and cults. He led excavations and restoration work on Naxos (including the sanctuary of Yria , temple of Sangri ) and in Epidaurus .

Lambrinoudakis is a full member of the German Archaeological Institute and the Academia Europaea (2000) as well as a corresponding member of the Austrian Archaeological Institute and the Académie des Inscriptions et Belles-Lettres (since 1999) and the Austrian Academy of Sciences (since 2000). From 1980 to 2014 he was a member of the editorial committee of the Lexicon Iconographicum Mythologiae Classicae / Thesaurus Cultus et Rituum Antiquorum .
