Veerasamy Ringadoo
Sir Veerasamy Ringadoo (born October 20, 1920 , † September 9, 2000 ) was a Mauritian politician.
First he held the office of finance minister. On January 17, 1986 he was appointed Governor General of the island state. After a constitutional amendment that transformed Mauritius into a republic, he was the first president from March 12, 1992 . On June 30, 1992, he was replaced by Cassam Uteem .
By Queen Elizabeth II he had been promoted to Knight Bachelor in 1975 and Knight Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George in 1986 .
