Veiko Süvaoja (born April 10, 1977 in Tallinn , Estonian SSR ) is a former Estonian ice hockey player who played a large part of his career in various Tallinn clubs in the Meistriliiga , but was also Estonian champion with Tartu Kalev-Välk .

Career

Club

Veiko Süvaoja began his career as a hockey player in his hometown with Tallinna JSK , for whom he made his debut in the Meistriliiga at the age of 15 . In the following fifteen years he played for various Tallinn clubs. In 2004 he won the Estonian championship title for the first time with HC Panter Tallinn . In the 2005/06 season he joined Panter Tallinn in the II-divisioona , the fourth-highest Finnish division. In 2007 he left his hometown for the first time and joined Tartu Kalev-Välk . In 2008, he won another championship title with the team from the traditional university town. After spending the 2010/11 season at the second-rate Elioni SK, he returned to the Panters, who were now called Tallinn HC Panter / Purikad , and played there again in the Meistriliiga until his career ended in 2014.

International

For Estonia, Süvaoja took part in the junior division of the U18-C European Championships in 1993 and 1994 as well as the U20-C2 World Championship in 1995 and the U20-D World Championship in 1997 .

In the men's area, Süvaoja played for the Estonian national team for the first time in November 2008 at the age of 31 in the Olympic qualification for the Winter Games in Vancouver 2010 . He was also on the ice for his colors at the 2010 World Cup in Division II , when the Balts were promoted to Division I.
