Vejrø is one of the small islands in the southern Danish Smålandsfarvandet ( German : Smålandsfahrwasser ) between Zealand and Lolland . The island belongs to the parish Fejø Sogn , which until 1970 belonged to Harde Fuglse Herred ( Maribo Amt ), since then to Ravnsborg Kommune in what was then Storstrøms Amt , which became part of Lolland Municipality in the Sjælland region with the municipal reform on January 1, 2007 .
The island is privately owned, but the small harbor can be approached by sport boats, and holiday homes are rented out. Vejrø covers an area of only about 1.6 km² . It has a largely untouched nature. The geographical location of the lighthouse of the island is located at 55 ° 2 '18.8 " N , 11 ° 22' 9.2" O . The island has a runway with an approximately 600 m long grass runway. The island was for sale for years and was acquired by a Dane in 2006. Currently the island is inhabited by 4 people.
