Velleda Cesari (born February 15, 1920 in Bologna , † May 4, 2003 in Genoa ) was an Italian foil fencer .
successes
Velleda Cesari achieved all international successes with the team. She won four bronze medals at world championships between 1947 and 1955, and silver in Luxembourg in 1954 . In 1957 in Paris she became world champion with the team. In addition, Cesari took part in four Olympic Games . In 1948 in London she finished seventh, while she was eliminated in the first round in Helsinki in 1952 and in Melbourne in 1956 . At the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome , she was only used in team competition. After losing the semi-finals to Hungary 3-9, the Italian team won the battle for third place against Germany . Together with Irene Camber , Claudia Pasini , Bruna Colombetti and Antonella Ragno-Lonzi she received the bronze medal.
