Common iliac vein

The common iliac vein is a pair of veins in the lower abdomen . It arises from the confluence of the external iliac vein and internal iliac vein and its connection to the inferior vena cava .

Location of the common iliac vein

The common iliac vein draws, along with the same artery , from the level of the sacroiliac joint upwards towards the middle of the body, where they together with the vein of the other side usually at the level of the fifth lumbar vertebral body , the inferior vena cava forms.
