External iliac vein

The external iliac vein is a large paired vein in the lower abdomen . It connects the femoral vein with the common iliac vein .

Location of the external iliac vein

The external iliac vein, together with the artery of the same name , runs from the inguinal ligament upwards towards the sacroiliac joint , where it forms the common iliac vein together with the internal iliac vein .

As it progresses, it includes the inferior epigastric vein and the deep circumflex iliac vein .
