Veins of the axillary region

The lateral thoracic vein is a superficial vein of the chest wall . It runs with the lateral thoracic artery in humans along the serratus anterior muscle , in predators and pigs along the back edge of the deep pectoralis muscle and pours into the axillary vein . The lateral thoracic vein carries blood from the pectoral muscles , the female breast and the axillary lymph nodes . It receives tributaries from the lateral mammary vein , the thoracoepigastric vein and the intercostal vein .
