Venda Nova is a district of the Portuguese district town Amadora . It has 8,359 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).

history

The area of Venda Nova originally belonged to Benfica . After the construction of the Estrada da Circunvalação , which formed the new physical boundary of the Lisbon urban area, the Venda Nova across the street was separated in 1886. With the shifting of the city limits, the Portas de Benfica were built on the connecting road between Venda Nova and Benfica , where a tax post levied duties for the transport of goods from the neighboring districts to Lisbon.

On July 12, 1997, the district was raised to its own freguesia by being separated from the Freguesia Falagueira-Venda Nova . As part of the municipal reorganization of Portugal, the Freguesia was merged again with Falagueira on September 29, 2013 .

The patron saint of the place is Our Lady of Perpetual Help .
