Venz (company)

Venz is a Dutch manufacturer of cocoa and chocolate products that mainly produces Hagelslag and other chocolate sprinkles.

The company was founded in Amsterdam in 1890 as a wholesaler for chocolate and sucrose products by Hendrik de Vries . The name is derived from "de V ries en Z onen" (de Vries and sons). When the son Gerard de Vries started doing business, business was so good that in 1928 all of the then four company buildings were used for production.

In 1930 a new factory was opened in Vaassen , mainly for the production of confectionery such as fondant and lollipops . After a few years the company also started producing chocolate bars , candy bars and sweets .

During this time, a machine for the production of hailstones was developed, which can be found on many breakfast tables in the Netherlands.

A similar manufacturer that has been known in the Netherlands for a long time is De Ruijter , which is now part of the Heinz group.
