Vera Buck

Vera Buck (born September 5, 1986 in Salzkotten ) is a German writer . She has lived in Zurich since 2012 .

life and work

Vera Buck studied journalism in Hanover and scriptwriting in Hawaii . During her studies she wrote texts for radio , television and magazines , and later short stories for anthologies and literary magazines .

After completing her studies, she was selected for the Master of Arts “Crossways in Cultural Narratives” and studied in France , Spain and Italy . In 2011 she received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation for the summer academy 'Writing Science in Fiction' in St. Johann , Italy and in 2012 was a finalist at the 20th Open Mike in Berlin .

In 2015 Vera Buck published her debut novel Runa , a mixture of historical detective novel and medical thriller. For her debut she was nominated for the Friedrich Glauser Prize 2016 and has received prizes in Germany and abroad. "Runa" has been translated into Polish and Dutch. In 2018 the paperback version was published by Blanvalet Verlag under the title "Runas Schweigen".

In September 2018 Vera Buck's second novel was published, " The Book of the Forgotten Artists ", a book that deals with the kidnapping of the fairground artists during the Nazi era. The novel has also been translated into Dutch.

In addition to her own writing activities, Vera Buck works as a writing coach and mentor. Her third novel will be published in March 2021.
