Vera Schäferkordt

Vera Schäferkordt (born December 9, 1924 in Düsseldorf ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant. She started for the Düsseldorfer SC .

The athlete won the German championship over 400 m freestyle in 1942 and 1943.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 , she started the 100 m freestyle, but did not make it into the top 16 in 1: 10.9 minutes. Instead, she reached the finals with the 4 × 100 m freestyle relay . The team ( Elisabeth Rechlin , Vera Schäferkordt, Käthe Jansen and Gisela Arendt ) took 7th place in 4: 40.3 minutes (gold went to the team from Hungary in the world record time of 4: 24.4 minutes).
