The Verband der Industrielle Energie- und Kraftwirtschaft (VIK) is a German association that represents the interests of industry and commerce in the energy sector .

The approximately 350 member companies are predominantly manufacturing companies from energy-intensive sectors (e.g. steel industry , paper industry , cement industry , glass industry and chemical industry ). Together, the members consume around 80 percent of industrial electricity in Germany.

The association, founded in 1947 and based in Essen, has a head office in Essen and an office in the federal capital, Berlin .

The most important event is its annual conference, which always deals with current topics in the industries. First, the association invites you to its traditional evening event, which always has a creative, exciting program in store and offers time for communicative exchange.

According to the statutes of the VIK, the association pursues its purpose, the "general promotion of an internationally competitive and secure energy, power and water management in commercial enterprises in Germany", in particular through:

  • national and international representation of the common economic, technical, legal and political interests of its energy-generating as well as energy and water-consuming member companies towards politics, administration, science and economy as well as in public
  • Statement on all questions relating to energy , power and water management and the environmental protection that affects them
  • Support for members in all questions relating to the planning and provision of technical infrastructure services
  • Participation in standardization (see also standardization )
  • Collection and exchange of operating experience
  • Informing the members

VIK founded Energieberatung GmbH as a commercial service provider for energy advice for members and non-members .

Internationally, the association is organized in the umbrella organization IFIEC Europe (International Federation of Industrial Energy Consumers).
