Association of Music and Art Schools Brandenburg

The Association of Music and Art Schools Brandenburg (VdMK) is the supporting and professional association of 35 music and art schools with a public educational mandate in the state of Brandenburg . The office is located in the art and culture district of Schiffbauergasse in Potsdam . The chairman of the association is Gerrit Große , the managing director is Winnetou Sosa. The VdMK represents the interests of its member schools in relation to state political bodies and other cultural and educational institutions. The main tasks of the association are quality assurance and the promotion of young talent in the field of musical and cultural education in the state of Brandenburg. The development and implementation of projects in this area is a focus of the association's work.

The association was founded in 1990 as the state association of Brandenburg Music Schools . In 2012 this was expanded with the addition of seven art schools to the Association of Music and Art Schools Brandenburg eV . The activities of the association in the field of music and cultural education in the state of Brandenburg include:

• own teacher training courses and specialist conferences
• Cooperation programs between primary schools, funding institutions and daycare centers with music and art schools (including "Class: Music for Brandenburg" and "Class: Art for Brandenburg")
• the festival of music and art schools in Brandenburg SOUND CITY and the benefit concert series "Music schools open churches"
• organizing the competitions Jugend musiziert and " enviaM - music from communes" in the state of Brandenburg
• the formation and support of state youth ensembles ( Junge Philharmonie Brandenburg , Young Voices Brandenburg, Landesjugendjazzorchester Brandenburg LaJJazzO , LaJJazzO Junior, Landesjugendblasorchester Brandenburg )
• the award of upper school degrees within the scope of the association's music schools
• the supervision of regional specialist groups in various artistic fields as well
• the creation of concepts for current cultural and educational issues.

As the sponsoring association of 35 music and art schools in the state of Brandenburg, the VdMK promotes the exchange of information and experience among its members, as well as cooperation at regional and national level. The association is headed by a voluntary board, in which the state parent representatives also contribute.

The VdMK is a member of the Association of German Music Schools (VdM) and the Federal Association of Youth Art Schools and Cultural Education Institutions.
