The LJBO Brandenburg is a Brandenburg selection orchestra for which the musicians qualify through an audition and then usually meet twice a year for rehearsal phases. During the rehearsal phases in spring and autumn, the orchestra works out a program with the help of experienced music school teachers , orchestra conductors and professional musicians . The rehearsal phases are supplemented by further rehearsal and concert weekends. The aim of the selected orchestra is to give the young Brandenburg musicians the opportunity to work out a standard repertoire of symphonic brass music and to get to know the breadth of this music. An integral part of the work phases is to bring the young musicians closer to the contemporary repertoire. Various new compositions have already been created for the orchestra.

There is a special cooperation with the staff music corps of the Bundeswehr , which provides lecturers and, in some cases, rooms for rehearsals. Several musicians from the staff music corps played in the LJBO Brandenburg beforehand. In 2013 a sponsorship agreement was signed between the two orchestras. In addition, the LJBO is an official partner of the Bertolt-Brecht-Gymnasium Bad Freienwalde in the project "School without Racism" .

The repertoire consists of symphonic and concert music from the baroque to the present day; German and foreign works are equally taken into account. A special focus is on the work of Brandenburg composers .

The artistic director is the Bad Freienwalder conductor and regional music director Endrik Salewski. Christoph Lipke and Andreas Zühlke also conduct the orchestra.
