The Association of Network Companies and Regional Energy Suppliers in Germany (VRE) was an industry association for the energy industry in Germany .

AER had the status of a registered association and maintained a branch in Berlin. In 2007, after only five years of existence, it became part of the Federal Association of Energy and Water Management (BDEW).

history

The AER was created in September 2002 from the merger of the Working Group on Regional Energy Supply Companies (ARE) with the Association of German Verbundwirtschaft (VdV).

The ARE had previously been formally founded (1971) by regional supply companies that had worked together since 1950 under the umbrella of the Association of German Electricity Works (VDEW). The VdV emerged from the former German Association of Association (DVG).

On June 19, 2007, the AER merged with three other branch associations of the German utility industry ( BGW , VDEW and VDN ) to form the BDEW.
