Klaus Rauscher

Klaus Rauscher (born April 24, 1949 in Lorenzreuth (today Marktredwitz) near Wunsiedel , Bavaria ) is a full member (Senior Executive Vice President) of the board of Vattenfall AB , Stockholm . Rauscher was CEO of Vattenfall Europe AG until July 2007 .

Life

His professional career began after studying law and its promotion to Dr. jur. in 1975 at the Bavarian State Ministry of Finance . There he was most recently head of the economic and investment department. In November 1988 he was appointed head of the Bavarian State Chancellery . In 1991 Rauscher moved to Bayerische Landesbank , where, as a member of the board, he was responsible for corporate finance, in particular the energy industry.

From November 1, 2001 on, Rauscher led the integration of the new group as CEO of Hamburgische Electricitäts-Werke AG (HEW) and later as CEO of the holding company.

With the formation of the new Vattenfall Europe Group in August / September 2002, Rauscher became Chairman of the Board of Management of Vattenfall Europe AG. He also became a full member (Senior Executive Vice President) of Vattenfall AB's board of directors . In addition, he was, among other things, President of the Association of Network Companies and Regional Energy Suppliers in Germany (VRE).

In June 2007 the AER merged with three other associations to form the BDEW .

On June 18, 2007, Rauscher was appointed honorary professor at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Dresden .

Due to the incidents in the nuclear power plants in Krümmel and Brunsbüttel , Rauscher offered to resign from his position as CEO on July 18, 2007, according to press reports, this was done under pressure from Vattenfall CEO Lars Göran Josefsson . The supervisory board decided to accept this offer and appointed Hans-Jürgen Cramer as his successor.
