The Association of German Student Initiatives (VDSI for short) is an association of 13 of the largest German student initiatives . The VDSI advocates the interests of student volunteer work in Germany on a national level as well as at universities and colleges, supports the exchange and cooperation between its members and promotes the opportunities for participation in student initiatives among students.

The VDSI is recognized as a non-profit association .

Foundation and current situation

The association was founded in 2014 under the name Association of German Student Initiatives . It emerged from the Cologne round of an amalgamation of the student initiatives AIESEC, bonding, ELSA, MTP and Market Team, which had existed since 1991. The founding members of the VDSI were AIESEC , BDSU , bonding , btS , ELSA , Market Team, MTP and Weitblick . Since then juFORUM , JCNetwork , Studying Without Borders , ESN Germany and the BVH have been added. The association currently unites 13 clubs with a total of around 43,000 members.

The VDSI, together with campushunter media GmbH, has been publishing the members' magazine Engagier Dich annually since 2013 and operates the (web) app Get Involved in partnership , which aims to make it easier for students to choose a student initiative by answering various questions.

structure

The work takes place on a national level as well as at universities and colleges. Once a year the 13 member initiatives of the association elect a national board. The work at universities and colleges takes place in local rounds recognized by the VDSI, in which several local student initiatives come together, whereby these do not have to be part of a network that is part of the VDSI at the national level.
