Structure and structure

Local city associations

There are now a total of 17 university groups in Germany. These are each independent, registered associations . All associations are recognized as non-profit. Each local initiative independently selects the projects it supports.

federal Association

For coordination and mutual exchange, the individual local associations created the Bundesverband Weitblick e. V. The seat of the federal association is 48143 Münster, Universitätsstrasse 14-16. The individual city associations are members of the federal association. This is also recognized as non-profit. It is represented by the federal executive committee.

The federal association is a founding member of the Association of German Student Initiatives (VDSI).

The nationwide alumni association Weitblick Plus was founded in June 2015.

Projects abroad

Weitblick promotes school and vocational training for children and young people in over 20 countries, especially in Africa , Asia and Latin America . The measures include in particular the construction of new infrastructure projects such as school buildings or libraries, as well as financial and personal support for existing educational institutions and projects.

In 2009, the first Weitblick school building was built in the Beninese community of Dogbo in cooperation with the ProDogbo association and the associated Beninese NGO ESI (education service international). Ten more school complexes (two classrooms and a teacher's room) and a training workshop in Benin have now been added. So far, 3 school complexes have also been financed with the second project partner in Benin, Sonafa. The most extensive supported project to date is the construction of a new campus (sleeping building and a lecture building, as well as a basketball and a soccer field) for the University of Abomey-Calavi near the Benin capital Porto-Novo , which operates foresight under the motto Uni builds Uni . Two school buildings were also financed in Cambodia . In addition, one school each was financed in Kenya and Indonesia and two school buildings including a cafeteria in Honduras . In Madagascar , a school and leisure center is funded with various smaller projects. The projects in Kenya and Indonesia have currently been completed; the projects in Benin, Honduras, Cambodia and Madagascar are active as of November 2019.

In Ghana , too , Weitblick local groups financed a school building project.

Association work in Germany

Weitblick is also committed to societal and social projects in Germany. For example, club members take on educational sponsorships for school children and support further learning projects for primary school students. Weitblick in Deutschland organizes educational trips, panel discussions and workshops for students and other young adults.
