The Evangelical newspaper for the churches in Lower Saxony was a weekly newspaper of the Confederation of Protestant Churches in Lower Saxony and appeared every Sunday. The publisher was the Association of Evangelical Publishing Lower Saxony-Bremen gGmbH .

history

The Evangelische Zeitung was founded in 1946 under the name "The Message". The first publisher was Adolf Cillien, head of the Community Service Office . "The Message" belonged to the Lutherhausverlag (today: Lutherisches Verlagshaus ), which belonged to the Office for Community Service. The newspaper has been published weekly since 1953. In 1975 it was renamed "Evangelische Zeitung". Since February 1st 2010 the newspaper has been published in cooperation with the newspaper Die Nordelbische under the common name Evangelische Zeitung . The areas were divided into north ( Schleswig-Holstein , Hamburg , parts of Denmark ) and south (confederation of ev. Churches in Lower Saxony) and had their own editorial offices.

The Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braunschweig announced that it would no longer fund the newspaper from 2014.

In 2017 the newspapers finally merged to form the Evangelische Zeitung . The publisher was the Ev. Press association for Northern Germany.

Edition

The edition of the Evangelische Zeitung for the churches in Lower Saxony was shown separately by the IVW . The northern edition , the Evangelical newspaper for the church in northern Germany , had a sold circulation of 4,122 copies per week in the third quarter of 2017 . The southern part, called Evangelische Zeitung für Niedersachsen, sold 6,576 copies in the same period.
