Erich Barke (* 28. December 1946 in Hannover ) is a German emeritus professor for microelectronics . From 2005 to the end of 2014 he was President of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz University in Hanover .

Life

Erich Barke attended the Humboldt School in Hanover . From 1968 to 1973 he studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Hanover. After graduating, he worked there as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Fundamentals of Electrical Engineering and Electrical Measurement Technology. Following his doctorate in 1978 and his habilitation in 1982, he became a temporary professor in Hanover. After a managerial position at Siemens , in 1990 he was appointed professor for the chair “Microelectronic Systems” at the University of Hanover. From 2005 to the end of 2014 he was President of the University of Hanover, and from January 2013 to the end of 2014 he was President of the University Network of Lower Saxony Technical University . He has taken over the patronage of the Hanover local group of the student initiative Weitblick , which advocates fairer access to education worldwide.
