Ludwig Troske

Ludwig Troske (born March 15, 1856 in Münster / Westphalia ; † March 21, 1934 in Hanover ) was a German engineer and, as a professor of railway machines, from 1917 to 1919 rector of the Royal Technical University of Hanover .

Life

Ludwig Troske attended the Georgianum grammar school in Lingen from 1865 to 1873 and, after successfully passing the exam, left it as a high school graduate, an integrated real branch, and after completing his mechanical engineering studies, he worked for the Prussian State Railways . In 1886 he was appointed government machine builder, five months later government builder. From 1892 he worked for the state railways in Hanover; at the same time he was assistant for mechanical engineering at the technical university there. In 1894 Troske was appointed director of the Tempelhof locomotive inspection department near Berlin; the following year he was appointed railway construction inspector.

In 1896 Troske received a call to the TH Hannover as professor for railway engineering. In April 1909 he took over Albert Frank's branch of railway engineering. During the First World War , Troske was in the army from 1914 to 1917; During this time Erich Metzeltin took over his lecture on railway construction. From 1917 to 1919 Troske was rector of the Royal Technical University of Hanover. Retired in 1924, Troske gave up teaching in 1928; however, held lectures on factories until 1934.

Awards

In 1926 Troske was awarded an honorary doctorate in engineering from the TU Braunschweig . The Troskeweg in Hanover-Herrenhausen is named after him.
