Franz Frese

Franz Frese (* 28. December 1850 in Dannhorst , Kreis Celle, † 6. January 1932 in Hannover ) was a German engineer for engineering and professor at the Hannover Royal Institute of Technology .

Life

Franz Frese studied at the Technical University in Hanover, where he became a member of the Corps Hannovera . From 1871 he held lectures on machine tools as an assistant at the Polytechnic School under Moritz Rühlmann and led measuring exercises. From 1875 to 1880 he worked as a designer in Albert Knoevenagel's machine factory . In 1880 Franz Frese completed his habilitation at the TH Hannover as one of the first to specialize in mechanical engineering and then worked as a private lecturer at the university until 1883 . In 1883 he became a lecturer, and in 1887 he was appointed professor of mechanical engineering. In 1896, his newly established “machine engineering laboratory” was the university's third engineering laboratory. From 1910 to 1911 he was rector of the university. In 1920 he retired .

Franz Frese was a member of the German Alpine Club and was on the board of the Hanover Section at the turn of the century.
