Lothar Huebl

Lothar Hübl (born January 4, 1941 in Bärn , Reichsgau Sudetenland ) is a German economist and was Professor from 1973 to 1974 Rector of the Technical University of Hanover.

Life

Lothar Hübl studied industrial engineering at the Technical University of Berlin from 1960 to 1966 . During this time (1963–1964) a Gustav Stresemann scholarship took him to Oxford University , where he studied Politics, Philosophy and Economics. In 1966 he received his degree in industrial engineering and began his doctorate , which he completed in 1968 on the subject of bank liquidity and capital market interest rates at the Technical University of Hanover. In 1972 he completed his habilitation there for economics with the habilitation thesis Determinants of the nominal interest rate development in the Federal Republic of Germany . In the same year he received the chair for economics and economic policy at the Technical University of Hanover, and from 1973 to 1974 he headed the rectorate. From 1975 to 1985 he was a board member of the Institute for Applied Systems Research and Forecasting (ISP) . From 1986 to 1987 he was Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Hanover. Since 2007 he has been a member of the Senate of the GISMA Business School Hannover.

Sideline activities led Lothar Hübl to several supervisory and advisory boards, including those of HDI Insurance , Hallbaum Bank , Börsen AG and Mecklenburgische Lebensversicherungs-AG .

Together with his wife Dr. rer. pole. Ulla Hübl started collecting first editions of Hermann Hesse in the early 1980s . In 2005 the Sparkasse Pforzheim Calw acquired the collection of around 400 works for the Hesse-Kabinett in Calw, which belongs to the Sparkasse .

Hübl was a co-signer of the Euro-critical manifesto The Monetary Policy Decisions of Maastricht: A Danger for Europe (1992).

The philosopher Philipp Hübl is his son.
