Alf Pflüger

Alf Pflüger (born July 17, 1912 in Hanover ; † October 22, 1989 ibid) was a German civil engineer and, as professor, rector of the Technical University of Hanover from 1968 to 1969 .

Life

Pflüger completed his studies in civil engineering at what was then the Technical University of Hanover in 1935 as a student of Otto Flachsbart . In the following ten years he worked at Focke-Wulf GmbH in Bremen . In 1936 he also received his doctorate in his hometown on the stability of thin cone shells . In 1941 he completed his habilitation in mechanics , which he turned to due to his work in aircraft construction.

From 1945 he initially taught structural engineering on a substitute basis, and in 1951 he was appointed professor. 1968 to 1969 he was elected rector of the university. During his rectorate the conversion to the Technical University took place.

Awards

Since 1957 he was a full member of the Braunschweig Scientific Society .
