Egon martyr

Egon Martyrer (born February 25, 1906 in Seehausen (Altmark) , † November 5, 1975 in Hanover ) was a German mechanical engineer and university lecturer in Danzig and Hanover.

Life

After finishing school and subsequent studies in mechanical engineering at the Technische Hochschule Hannover martyrs worked from 1929 to 1932 as an assistant at the RWTH Aachen and received his doctorate there. In the following years he worked in industry. After becoming a member of the NSDAP in 1937, Martyrer was appointed professor at the Technical University of Danzig in 1938 . From 1941 to 1945 he was rector of the TH Danzig. After fleeing, he applied for the chair for water turbines and general mechanical engineering at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at RWTH Aachen University in December 1945, but was not appointed. He had success in 1949 at the TH Hannover, where he held the chair at the institute for machine elements and hydraulic flow machines. From 1959 to 1960 he was rector of the TH Hannover. From 1960 to 1962 Martyrer was deputy chairman of the Association of German Engineers (VDI).

Martyrer made several inventions for which he received patents .

Awards

  • A hall in the Institute for Machine Elements, Construction Technology and Tribology at the University of Hanover is named after him.
  • 1971 Golden badge of honor from the VDI.
  • 1971 Lower Saxony Medal of Merit combined with the Great Cross of Merit.
