Association for Pop Culture in Bavaria

The Association for Pop Culture in Bavaria eV (VPBy), until 2011 “Arbeitsgemeinschaft Bayerischer Musikinitiativen eV” (ABMI), is a scene network of around 50 clubs, festival organizers, music initiatives and communities. Since 1989 it has appeared under the corporate identity Rock.Büro SÜD as a service provider for the music scene, authorities, media and business and is committed to representing the interests of pop culture in Bavaria .

Hundreds of club events and three CD productions with a total circulation of 450,000 CDs have been realized through sponsorship partnerships . The association is a member of the Bavarian Music Council . Since 1991, the Rock.Büro SÜD has also awarded the Pick Up Bavarian Rock Prize every year and also manages various qualification programs and projects. The Bavarian State Ministry for Science, Research and Art , which finances the position of a managing director in the Rock.Büro, describes the Rock.Büro as a “publicly accessible, central contact point with a qualified advisory function” and recommends strengthening it in the Bavarian Music Plan .

  • Organizer seminar: Twice a year, four-day compact seminar for organizers and event agencies from all over Germany .
  • Go Professional: series of workshops that has been providing information to musicians and those interested in music in dozens of evening workshops on all relevant topics in the music industry since the turn of the millennium .
  • BY-on: Funding project for top artists from Bavaria, which was started with the help of the State Chancellery, the support of media such as Bayern 3 and PPV-Verlag as well as professionals from Bavarian record companies and concert organizers.
  • Ohura: Bavaria-wide music funding project that has been introducing girls and young women to the subject of music and media in over 50 workshops every year since 1996.
  • Beam Me Up: A career-oriented school project that introduces secondary and secondary school classes to everyday working life using music / media as a means of transport.
  • Take Off: Cooperation project between VPBy, Kontrapunkt eV, and Euro-Trainings-Center ETC with partners in the metropolitan region of Lyon and Dublin to give disadvantaged young people the opportunity to gain experience abroad, to promote language skills, to expand professional and social skills and to improve themselves in this way to prepare for current demands of the labor market.
  • Roadrunner: A band exchange project in which two stylistically matching newcomer bands come together for a "round trip" in order to make the leap out of their home region.
