The association for digital broadcast and internet-based television (VdiF) represents the interests of several regional television stations in Baden-Württemberg . The association's broadcasters have a combined technical reach of 5.5 million viewers in the country.

Seat

The headquarters of the VdiF is in Eningen unter Achalm in the Reutlingen district.

tasks

The VdiF adopts media law positions, advocates the strengthening of professional journalism and equal access to distribution channels and funding. The association focuses in particular on the broadcasters that were founded on their own initiative and have opened up transmission channels. In technical jargon, one speaks of the so-called "non-must-carry" transmitters. The "must-carry" transmitters, which also broadcast in Baden-Württemberg, were founded on the initiative of the State Agency for Communication (LfK). They were assigned a cable channel by the authority, which the cable network operator is obliged to provide.

Positions

In the debate about an amendment to the State Broadcasting Treaty into a State Media Treaty, the VdiF advocates including financial support for local and regional television. The general conditions for the broadcasters are difficult. At the same time, however, their contribution to opinion-forming, diversity of opinion, regional identity and information transfer through quality journalism is important for democracy. At the state level, the VdiF is fighting for the promotion of regional television intended by the state of Baden-Württemberg to benefit all broadcasters, "must-carry" channels as well as "non-must-carry" channels.

Members

Private, regional television broadcasters cooperate in the association for digital broadcast and internet-based television. VdiF currently owns half of the private Baden-Württemberg television stations: RTF.1 , BWeins, RIK, Filstalwelle , BW Family.tv , KraichgauTV , Metropolregion TV .

history

The VdiF was founded in 2007 on the premises of the State Office for Communication Baden-Württemberg in Stuttgart.

president

VdiF President has been Stefan Klarner, managing director of Klarner Medien GmbH in Eningen near Reutlingen, since it was founded. It operates the stations RTF.1 Regionalfernsehen, BWeins Landesfernsehen and RIK Regionaler InfoKanal. Stefan Klarner is a member of the Reutlingen Executive Committee and the Media and Film Industry Committee of the Reutlingen Chamber of Commerce. Klarner represents the positions of the industry in the media policy committee of the VdiF, at various congresses and is a frequent speaker at various specialist conferences.
