Verdun is a small town in the Adelaide Hills in South Australia , Australia , between Hahndorf and Bridgewater and where the South Eastern Freeway runs past. In 2016, 207 people lived here.
Verdun was founded by Prussian emigrants under the name Grunthal in the 19th century . The place was renamed after Verdun , the site of the major battle of the First World War, during the First World War , when an anti-German mood developed in Australia and numerous German place names were changed .
The Hills Christian Community School , a restaurant and a library are located in the village .
