The Vere Ice Rise is a small ice dome of the Wilkins Ice Shelf off the west coast of Alexander I Island .
The British Antarctic Survey (BAS) mapped it using radar measurements during a flyover on February 1, 1967 with a DHC-6 Twin Otter . A more precise position determination was made using Landsat images from 1979. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 1980 after Lieutenant Robert P. Vere (1937-2004) of the Royal Air Force , second pilot on the BAS flight.
