Association "Community of Domenico Tardini"

The association “Community Domenico Tardini” ( Italian Associazione “Comunità Domenico Tardini” , English “Comunità Domenico Tardini” ) is an association of believers in the Roman Catholic Church recognized by the Pontifical Council for the Laity . It was founded in 1980 and bears the name of Cardinal Domenico Tardini (1888–1961). It is affiliated with the “Villa Nazareth” foundation .

history

On the basis of the social and Christian ideas of Domenico Tardini, Pope John XXIII approved . (1958–1963) founded the “Holy Family of Nazareth” with a motu proprio of January 13, 1963, which was also referred to as “Villa Nazereth”. The first generation of students to grow up in the Villa Nazareth had the inspiration to found a brotherhood in 1969 . But it was not until 1980 that an association was brought into being that opened up admission and adequate training to young people as part of a Christian life. On May 24, 2004, the Pontifical Council for the Laity recognized the association as an international association under papal law.

Self-image

Domenico Tardini is the spiritual father and source of ideas; he was particularly interested in children who lacked the material and financial prerequisites to grow up in a protected family. He made sure that gifted people could develop who had a special calling to the apostolate . For the 60th anniversary, Pope Benedict XVI. (2005-2013) with an address to the representatives of the association and explains:

“Villa Nazareth” is a valuable institution that continues to develop through the diligent efforts of the students in their training, through their integration into professional life and through the young families that are emerging […] “Villa Nazareth” has over the past 60 years has taken on several generations of children and young people and aims to develop the intelligence of its students, while respecting human freedom, aimed at seeing service to one's neighbor as a true expression of Christian love. "Villa Nazareth" wants to educate young people to have the courage to make decisions, in an attitude open to dialogue and with reference to reason purified by faith [...] In "Villa Nazareth" you can experience that the Word God's attentive listening and an open and mature heart are required to be lived in abundance. The motto of the association is: " UT SINT UNUM " and comes from the Gospel of John : Jesus asks for all believers: "All should be one ..." ( Jn 17.21  EU ).

Organization and dissemination

Every year the association holds an "assembly" which is also the highest organ. Objectives are worked out and decided on it, and general instructions are specified. The “Assembly” elects the President, Vice-Presidents, the members of the “Council” and the Arbitral Tribunal . The president represents the association internally and externally, the vice-president supports him in the implementation and execution of the resolutions. The “council” that leads the management consists of the president, the vice-president and ten advisors. The association is also recognized by the Italian government as a student residence and university college. For the purpose of the Villa Nazareth a foundation was established, which is committed to imparting professional competence, social responsibility and a Christian life to the students.

"Villa Nazareth" Foundation

The foundation established by the association is based in the "Villa Nazareth" in Rome , it manages the accommodation for students there and supports them financially and materially during their studies at Roman universities ... The boarding school also offers a library and a lecture hall , two conference rooms, reading rooms, a computer and drawing room, classrooms, living room, video library , music room, newspaper reading room, TV rooms, table tennis, sports facilities such as gym, tennis, soccer and indoor soccer fields, green areas around the boarding schools, gardens and chapels . The following main activities are organized: orientation for university students and for graduates, counseling service, language, computer and religion courses, conferences, meetings, work orientation, international exchanges and scholarships for a stay abroad. There is also the opportunity to take part in voluntary activities and come into contact with the labor market.
