Constitution of the Artsakh Republic
The Arzach constitution was adopted by a nationwide referendum on December 10, 2006 in the internationally unrecognized Republic of Arzakh , whose territory belongs to Azerbaijan under international law . 90,077 voters took part in the referendum, of which 77,279 or 85.79% voted for and 0.61% against the main law .
This constitution defines the Republic of Artsakh as an independent, democratic state based on social justice and the rule of law. The names Nagorno-Karabakh and Arzach have been recognized in parallel since then. Stepanakert is the capital of the republic. The violence emanates from the people who exercise it directly through the election of government representatives. Provisions relating to changes in constitutional status or changes in borders are subject to a referendum.
