Traffic congestion

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

From a congestion (coll .: gridlock ) is when the traffic route is congested permanently and the traffic is virtually at a standstill and the mode of transport to its capacity limit encounters.

The causes of traffic congestion are excessive vehicle traffic (e.g. during rush hour) or errors in the traffic infrastructure or traffic telematics or traffic control (caused by poor traffic policy ) and also, increasingly, the effects of the weather .

Traffic congestion should be sensed by the traffic telematics and an avoidance recommendation should be generated via the media. Variable message signs and the opening of the hard shoulder are indicated on motorways if the traffic infrastructure permits. An emergency lane must be formed immediately . Also, a deflection of the congested traffic route to another could be given, as an equalization of the rush hour , as well as formation of carpools .
