history

From 1897 Paul te Neues was a partner in the paper wholesaler J. Finck and Co. in Krefeld. Heinz te Neues, a son of Paul te Neues, joined the company at the age of 24 after completing his doctorate. Heinz te Neues founded the independent company Dr. te Neues & Co printing company as an offset printing company. The new company worked under one roof with the Finck company.

During the Nazi era, the company had difficulties due to advertising restrictions. However, among other things, maps were printed for the Air Force. In 1943 the printing plant in Krefeld was destroyed by a bomb attack. It was rebuilt in Kempen . Together with his son Manfred te Neues, Heinz te Neues developed a publishing program with art prints and school murals in 1950. The first teNeues art calendar appeared in 1958. At the end of the sixties greeting cards were added to the range. In 1977 Manfred te Neues founded te Neues Verlag, which was separated from the printing company.

In 1982 Manfred te Neues' eldest son Hendrik te Neues (1952–2019) founded the teNeues Publishing Company in New York as the first foreign subsidiary. Further subsidiaries in London and Paris followed later. In addition to calendars, art products such as cards, posters and blank books were produced and art books by European publishers were sold in the USA.

In 1995 the first book brand teNeues followed in New York with a focus on photography. In the same year, Sebastian te Neues, the younger brother of Hendrik te Neues, joined the publishing group. In 1999 Manfred te Neues joined the company's advisory board, whose chairman is Werner Klatten , chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Sporthilfe .
