Verna Mae Bentley-Krause

Verna Mae Bentley-Krause (born July 7, 1951 in Memphis , Tennessee ) is a German - American singer who became famous for her song " I love German land ".

Life

Bentley-Krause joined the United States Army in 1979 and was stationed in Germany. After she left the army in 1982, she settled in Germany and opened a flower shop near the US military base Pulaski Barracks on the outskirts of Kaiserslautern . She sent a video with the song "I love German land" to TV total , where it was first broadcast on January 22, 2001. Since then she has appeared as a running gag in various programs by Stefan Raab when the "German national anthem" (or something similar) was requested, for example at the TV Total Stock Car Challenge during the award ceremony.

The song was released as a single by Raab's production company RARE (Raab Records) in 2001 under the title Ich liebe deutsche Land (De Det De Det De Dä) and stayed in the German single charts for six weeks .

In 2014 she published the book Die kleine deutsche Niggerin .
